Iskanchi Magazine

Iskanchi Magazine takes its name from iskanci, a Hausa word that carries the spirit of mischief, irreverence, and refusal. The magazine is drawn to writing that strays from the expected path: work that unsettles form, troubles convention, and makes room for the strange, the unruly, and the difficult to contain. It publishes bold, experimental African writing across genres, with selected work from the magazine gathered in the annual Best African Experimental Writing anthology.

Iska Press also runs the Iskanchi Magazine Prize, a separate award tied to the magazine.
