Iskanchi Magazine publishes short, original, irreverent, disobedient, and experimental work too brief to stand alone as a book. We are committed to showcasing writing that pushes the boundaries of experimental fiction, both in content or form.  

Our Summer Issue is currently open for submissions. Deadline: May 30^th

- Fall Issue Submission Period: Aug 1-30^th

- Spring Issue Submission Period: Jan 1-31^st

Submission Guidelines

• Length: Maximum of 5000 words.
• Format: Times New Roman, 12pt, Word document, double-spaced
• Include a short cover letter, a brief bio, and your social media links along with your story submission to submissions@iskanchi.com
• Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify is immediately if your work is accepted for publication.
• Multiple submissions are not allowed.
• Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere.
• Writers will be contacted if their work is accepted for submission.
• We currently offer $50 per published piece.
• Published stories are automatically considered for the Iskanchi Magazine Prize.
• While not required, you are encouraged to read our previous issues before submitting

Iska Press Book-Length Submissions

IskaPress accepts book-length manuscripts year-round in every genre, provided theyhonor the craft of writing and are written by Africans in English or intranslation. We are interested in books about Africa and Africans, and instories—lived or imagined—that expand the possibilities of African writing.

^tSubmission Guidelines

• We accept completed manuscripts in Word or PDF format.
• Please include a synopsis, cover letter, and author bio with your submission.
• Send manuscript submissions to submissions@iskanchi.com with the subject line: Manuscript Submission.
• We aim to respond within six months. Writers will be contacted if their work is accepted for publication.
• Iska Press is home to the Iska Book Prize, formerly the Iskanchi Book Prize. Accepted work is automatically considered for the Book Prize.
