New African Library
Founded in 2024, New African Library is an Iska Press imprint that republishes creative and critical works by modern African writers — including significant out-of-print twentieth-century titles — for today's readers.
Why the library exists
Books go out of print. Rights lapse, presses close, and work that mattered — sometimes decisively, to a generation of readers or to the writers who came after — quietly stops being available. New African Library exists to put that work back into circulation, edited and produced to the same standard as anything else on the Iska Press list, rather than left to secondhand markets and library reserve shelves.
It sits alongside the trade list as a distinct editorial line: where new acquisitions look forward, New African Library looks back — to the writers and critical voices whose work built the ground the current list stands on.

Within the Iska Press family
New African Library is one of three editorial programs at Iska Press, alongside Works in Translation and the African Folktales series, and sits beside the general trade list and the Executive & Institutional Book Studio. Each carries its own editorial identity within a single, consistent house style; none is a separate imprint in name only.
